Description : A little-branched erect undershrub, 3-6 ft. high. Stem terete, finely downy. Leaves compound, imparipinnate, 5-9 foliolate leaves, mixed with a few 1-foliolate ones; stipules ca. 2.2 cm. long; rachis ca. 8-11 cm. long; petiolules very short, downy; lamina ca. 8-17 x 0.7-2.5 cm, oblique or rounded at base, acute at apex, rigidly subcoriaceous, glabrous and variegated with irregular greyish blotches along the midrib above, harshly pubescent and strongly net-veined beneath; secondary nerves about 10 pair, oblique. Racemes terminal, simple, very dense and hairy, ca. 7-25 x 1.2-1.8 cm; bracts scariose, deciduous, gradually narrower upward; pedicels ca. 0.6 cm long, abruptly incurved at the tip after flowering, clothed with bristles; calyx deeply divided; lobes subulate; corolla purple. Pod 3-6 jointed, lucid, glabrous.
 
Curated Medicinal Use / Activity : relieves mild Diarrhea, dyspnoea, Asthma, Bronchitis and Chronic respiratory disorders, healing of fractured bone, anti-inflammatory, antianxiety ,anti depressant. The Uraria species is useful in quick healing of bone fractures. It is used as a cardio and nervine tonic and has anti-inflammatory, expectorant, and diuretic properties. The root of the plant is one of the ingredients of ‘dasamoola’ in Ayurveda.
