| Description : | A shrub up to 1.8 m tall. Leaves opposite, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, 12-20 cm long and 3.8-7.5 cm wide, lineolate on both sides, margins entire or crenulate, base tapering into petiole. Flowers blue or rose-coloured with a strong, fetid odour, borne in linear, lax, axillary and terminal spikes up to 15 cm long. Bracts 1.6 cm long, obovate, white with very prominent raised green nerves. Fruit (capsule) 1.3 cm long, clavate, pointed, glabrous. Seeds 3-4 mm in diam., hygroscopically hairy, densely so on the margins. | |||||||||||||
